MemFish Privacy Policy
Last updated: January 21, 2026
MemFish (“we”, “our”, or “the app”) is a flashcard application. This policy explains how we handle your data.
Summary
- Your flashcards stay on your device
- Google Sign-In is optional, used for backup and AI features
- No ads, no analytics, no tracking
- AI flashcard generation sends your prompts to Google’s Gemini API
Data Stored on Your Device
All your flashcard content, study progress, and settings are stored locally on your device. This data never leaves your device unless you choose to back it up or use AI features.
Google Sign-In (Optional)
If you sign in with Google:
- Your email address and name are used locally to display your account in the app
- Google Drive access is used solely to store and retrieve backups you create
- Sign-in is required to use AI flashcard generation
Your sign-in session is managed by Google. Your backup files are stored in your own Google Drive account, governed by Google’s Privacy Policy. You can revoke MemFish’s access at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
AI Flashcard Generation (Optional)
When you use the AI flashcard generation feature:
Data collected:
- Your topic prompts (the text you enter to generate flashcards)
- Google account identifier (for authentication and quota tracking)
How data is processed:
- Your prompts are sent to our server (hosted on Cloudflare Workers)
- Our server forwards prompts to Google’s Gemini API to generate flashcards
- Generated flashcards are returned to your device and stored locally
- We retain your usage quota on our server
Data retention:
- Topic prompts are processed in real-time and not stored on our servers
- Quota usage is retained to enforce usage limits
Third-party services:
- Google Gemini API — processes your prompts to generate flashcard content
- Cloudflare Workers — hosts our AI generation backend
You can use MemFish without the AI feature. All other app functionality works offline with no data transmission.
Backup Data
When you enable backup:
- Your flashcard data is uploaded to YOUR Google Drive
- Only you can access these files
- We never see or store your backup data
Data Deletion
- Uninstall the app to delete all local data
- Sign out to disconnect your Google account
- Delete backup files directly from your Google Drive
- To delete AI-related data, see our Delete Account page
Children’s Privacy
MemFish can be used by children of any age. However, the AI flashcard generation feature requires users to self-attest that they are 18 or older.
Changes
We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date at the top will reflect any changes. Significant changes will be noted in app release notes.
